DaDaABC's "Love Collection" Event: To Better Celebrate the Special Relationship Between Instructors and Students
SAN FRANCISCO, June 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For DaDaABC, a leading EdTech company in China that provides an online English learning platform for grades K-12, June 1st is a big deal each year. June 1st is Children's Day all around the world, and in order to give their young students a memorable day, DaDaABC launched their "love collection" event leading up to the day of. Students were welcomed to express the thanks, love, and appreciation that they have for their instructors, and after putting it into a few meaningful sentences, gave it to their instructors. The top ten most liked messages would then receive a gift on June 1st. In the meantime, instructors would write cute greeting cards and record a video that sends their warmest regards to all the students.
Without a doubt, the relationship between teachers and students is a special one. In school, teachers are often faced with a large number of students in a class, and cannot always look after any one student. The truth of the matter is that teachers simply do not have enough time and energy to foster a close relationship with each student. However, thanks to the fixed one-on-one teaching model at DaDaABC, at any given time one instructor is in charge of only one student. As a result of this model, a lot of students have come to regard their instructors as a friend.
One student who participated in the "love collection" event wrote, "I'm Alice, and I had just started learning at DaDaABC. Although I only had a few classes, I already enjoy the time spent with my instructor, Michael. He is humorous and friendly, and we get along so well. I believe we can become good friends. Also, my adviser, King, my teaching assistant, Jacky, and many other instructors have all done a lot for me. This is a chance to express my love and appreciation, so I want to thank my instructors, and tell them I love them."
The special relationship that forms between instructors and students comes from DaDaABC's long-term effort in developing the most effective teaching model and approach. The unique fixed one-on-one teaching model allows students to learn in a consistent environment that ensures efficient knowledge retention and an increase in feedback time. Instructors also have the ability to adjust the curriculum based on the student's performance. On top of this, students are encouraged to interact as much as possible while in class. This two-way communication sparks fun and lively conversations that help instructors get to know their students better. In this sense, not only are the students benefitting from an engaging learning environment, but the instructors are better able to enjoy their work.
Maggie, a DaDaABC instructor from Orlando, said, "I don't feel like I'm working when I have classes with my students. It's more like spending time with a young friend. The children's world is so simple and creative, and I learn something from them, too. When I see the progress that my student makes from day to day, I feel a great satisfaction."
Joyce, the academic director at DaDaABC, said of the teacher-student relationship, "We're so glad to see that students can become friends with their instructors. We were touched to have seen so many great messages from our students during the "love collection" event. This allows us to provide a sense of family to our instructors no matter where they are located. As a result, we've been receiving a lot of positive feedbacks from our instructors, and DaDaABC is welcoming more to come join the family."
