CyberKnife System and the da Vinci Surgical System in Concord Medical Centers Achieve Over RMB 10 Million in Medical Revenue Since Opening in February
BEIJING, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Concord Medical Services Holdings Limited ("Concord Medical" or the "Company") (NYSE: CCM), a leading specialty hospital management solution provider and operator of the largest network of radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging centers in China, today announced that the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System (the "CyberKnife System") located in Changhai Hospital has treated over 170 patients since the start of its trial run in February 2012.
The CyberKnife System is an advanced method of radiosurgery, which delivers highly targeted and effective doses of radiation with the highest levels of accuracy with minimal radiation exposure and side effects related to many radiotherapy procedures. Changhai Hospital has been using the CyberKnife System to treat patients with a wide variety of cancers, including liver and pancreatic cancer. The CyberKnife System provides the most advanced treatment for pancreatic cancer, with the advantages of more accurate positioning, consistent radiation accuracy through treatment, respiratory movement tracking therapy, more uniformed distribution of target, dose as well as shorter treatment cycles.
Changhai Hospital is a 3A-level research hospital with over 2,000 beds in Shanghai. A da Vinci Surgical System of the latest generation has been installed and in operation in Changhai Hospital since April 2012. Combining the CyberKnife System and the da Vinci Surgical System, Changhai Hospital is able to provide best treatment to patients with various types of cancers, especially prostate cancer, which is becoming a more prominent health problem to the Chinese male population.
