Cyber Monday Sales on Smartphone-optimized Websites up 150%
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Branding Brand, the leading mobile commerce platform to top retailers, today announced the results of its Mobile Commerce Index for Cyber Monday, which showed a 150 percent increase in sales on smartphone-optimized websites.
The Branding Brand Mobile Commerce Index identifies retail trends across a sample of Branding Brand's clients in various industries, including apparel, health and beauty, and home goods. The Index is the largest collection of data on commerce sites specifically designed for smartphones, as opposed to non-optimized desktop sites with mobile traffic.
According to Branding Brand, 152 smartphone-optimized sites produced the following Cyber Monday results:*
- 8,385,041 visitors (66.75% iOS; 32.87% Android)
- 60,788,678 page views (66.01% iOS; 33.57% Android)
- 190,351 orders (70.06% iOS; 29.72% Android)
- $82.16 average order value ($83.23 iOS; $79.68 Android)
- 29.31% of total e-commerce traffic came from smartphones
*The above numbers do not include data from Branding Brand apps or tablet properties.
Compared to 2012, the Branding Brand Mobile Commerce Index showed the following year-over-year gains for the 46 smartphone sites tracked during both periods:
- Visits increased 78.02%
- Page views increased 103.91%
- Average order value decreased 4.44%
- Mobile sales increased 149.91%
"While visits, page views, and mobile sales increased, average order value decreased," said Chris Mason, Branding Brand co-founder and CEO. "Aggressive promotions, as well as the rise of free shipping, can impact final basket price."
