CVS/pharmacy Enters Puerto Rico

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS/pharmacy, the nation's leading retail pharmacy, announced today that it will open 9 stores in Puerto Rico in 2010.  The first two locations, in San Juan and Bayamon, will officially open Monday, February 15.

CVS/pharmacy's new stores in Puerto Rico will feature all of the products and services for which millions of CVS customers in the U.S. visit its stores every day, including:

• A full service pharmacy staffed by highly trained pharmacists and pharmacy staff
• A complete line of health and beauty products including many brands exclusive to CVS/pharmacy
• General merchandise and digital photo-processing
• The CVS ExtraCare Rewards Program, which offers customers money back through Extra Bucks that are earned by shopping in-store or at www.cvs.com.  

In addition, CVS/pharmacy is partnering with many local vendors and suppliers in Puerto Rico to ensure its stores meet the needs of Puerto Rican consumers.  More than 12,000 products carried by CVS stores will be sourced from local companies and many of these products are made in Puerto Rico.  

CVS/pharmacy will create approximately 400 new jobs in Puerto Rico this year.  In addition to its stores opening this month in San Juan and Bayamon, more locations are scheduled to open this year in Arecibo, Bayamon (2 additional locations), Dorado, Fajardo, Vega Alta and Vega Baja.  

As part of its entry into Puerto Rico, CVS/pharmacy announced a donation of $10,000 to Instituto Psicopedagogico de PR, a Bayamon-based agency that provides specialized health, nutrition, education, and essential care to adults and children in Puerto Rico with severe mental retardation to improve their quality of life in a dignified environment in which human compassion, respect and love for others reigns above all else.
