Bipartisan Policy Center Releases Third "Lip Service" Campaign Video That Speaks to Partisan Rhetoric in Washington on Deficits
WASHINGTON, May 30, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This week the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) released a new "Lip Service" campaign video illustrating the partisan rhetoric on the issue of deficits facing the country. The video is being released as Congress tackles the nation's appropriations process – 12 spending bills that must be passed each year. This new video is the third in a series of six videos being released over the next month as part of BPC's Citizens for Political Reform campaign. The goals of the campaign are to highlight partisan rants that are halting progress in Washington and to encourage Americans to move past politicians' "lip service," join BPC's movement and help bridge the partisan divide in Washington.

"Our skyrocketing national debt and budget deficits are stealing from America's future," said BPC Senior Fellow and former Senator Olympia Snowe, who spearheads BPC's Citizens campaign. "It is unconscionable that hyper-partisanship is preventing Congress from grappling with difficult decisions on critical policies that would attack America's burgeoning deficits. Congress has regrettably demonstrated its preference for running the country by default, delay and deferral. And that is simply no way to govern a great nation."
