On April 2, 2014, Salesforce.com (Salesforce) announced its new industries strategy called Salesforce1 customer platform to address the challenges of each sector the Company's Business Unit is managing, which is expected to accelerate the Company's growth and transform the way companies across key industries connect with their customers. According to Salesforce, the platform will focus on delivering innovative solutions for six industries namely Financial/Insurance, Health Care/Life Sciences, Retail/Consumer Products, Communications/Media, Public Sector, and Automotive/Manufacturing. The platform's core service is to engage each customer towards the industry, which might lead to increased traffic. In return, companies can rapidly implement new solutions and get the information disseminated quickly. Splunk Inc. Analyst Notes
On March 31, 2014, Splunk Inc. (Splunk) announced the new version of Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange. The latest version 3.0 Splunk App, combined with Splunk Enterprise, provides real-time visibility into the health of the Microsoft Exchange environment including message delivery components and the supporting IT infrastructure. According to the Company, the features include packaged correlation and operation dashboards, dashboard builder, messaging tracking, client behaviour monitoring and capacity planning, and end-to-end visibility. Leena Joshi, Senior Director, Infrastructure Operations Marketing, Splunk, said, "The new version of the Splunk App for Microsoft Exchange includes pre-built correlations between Microsoft Exchange data and data from supporting infrastructure, specifically Windows OS and Microsoft Active Directory. This delivers the most accurate picture of email service health, performance, and security and user experience across the messaging infrastructure." (BroadSoft) announced that it has partnered with Telecom Italia to provide the communication service of its Nuvola It Comunicazione Integrata service, an integrated voice, data, and applications offer. In return, Telecom Italia will leverage the Company's BroadWorks and BroadCloud platforms, enabling enterprises to access communication channels across a variety of mobile devices with their branded version of BroadSoft's BroadTouch Business Communicator. Open Text Corp. Analyst Notes
On March 31, 2014, Open Text Corp. (Open Text) issued a press release seeking infringement damages from Box, Inc., (Box) exceeding $268 million in the patent infringement lawsuit, as well as interest, damages for wilful infringement, and attorney fees. According to the Company, it filed a patent infringement suit on June 5, 2013 that Box infringed 200 claims across 12 patents in 3 different patent families. The complaint seeks preliminary and permanent injunctions as to Box products, as well as past and future damages. On March 26, 2014, Box demanded from the Company to provide the amount of its claimed damages. Box offered no defense to infringement of the Company's patents. Benefitfocus, Inc. Analyst Notes
On March 27, 2014, Benefitfocus, Inc. (Benefitfocus) announced that it DRT Holdings, Inc. implemented the Company's HR INTOUCH MARKETPLACE, a cloud-based portal that integrates all of DRT Holdings' benefit options in one place to support benefits administration, employee communications and compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The portal's built-in data exchange capabilities provides accuracy and consistency across various systems by automating the transmission of employee enrollment data with DRT Holdings' payroll and benefit providers, providing employers convenient access to reports on plan participation, open enrollment status and other information. Julie Smith, Human Resources Administration at DRT Holdings, said, "The technology capabilities combined with the superior support we receive from Benefitfocus more than exceeded our expectations. Our first open enrollment using HR InTouch Marketplace was successful and we are pleased to have this software available as we face new challenges as a growing company and with the introduction of the ACA."
