CORAL GABLES, Fla., June 22, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The first class in the Miami Executive MBA for Artists and Athletes program at the University of Miami School of Business Administration will graduate on July 1. The class, made up of mostly current and former NFL players, includes longtime Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss; Miami Dolphins safety Michael Thomas; Buffalo Bills safety Robert Blanton and fullback Jerome Felton; and former quarterback Trent Edwards, among others. A graduation ceremony will take place at the University's Shalala Student Center at 3:30 p.m. on July 1.
The inaugural class in this unique MBA program, designed to help accomplished athletes and artists achieve long term financial security, began the program in February 2015. Participants attended six two-week residencies in Miami during the NFL's off-season, with distance learning in between.
"Like their work on the field, this MBA program is intense, demanding a significant investment of time and energy on the part of each participant," said Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean for graduate business programs at the University of Miami School of Business Administration. "We couldn't be more proud of the members of this first class and the hard work they put in to gain the new knowledge and business skills they need to continue their professional and personal success."
There are nearly 30 current and former NFL players in the second class in the Miami Executive MBA for Artists and Athletes program, including Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith. The 18-month program is taught by the same world-class faculty who teach in the School's other MBA programs and has the same curriculum, as well as additional classes and workshops unique to the program.
