MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Cumulus Media raised a record-breaking $2.7 million during its annual radiothon season to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: Finding cures. Saving children.® Over more than 20 years, Cumulus has raised $24.2 million through its annual event.
Each year, Cumulus Media engages its dedicated radio listeners nationwide by asking them to pledge $20 per month to become a St. Jude Partner In Hope. Funds raised are critical given that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
"We at Cumulus are proud to partner in making a difference in the lives of patients and families at St. Jude," said Mike McVay, Executive Vice President of Programming and Content for Cumulus Media. "We're so proud of the stations, hosts and supporters who have helped us complete another successful year. We fully support the St. Jude mission and believe in Danny Thomas' dream that no child should die in the dawn of life."
Last year, Cumulus Media expanded its longstanding support of St. Jude by adding more than a dozen classic rock and classic hits stations to the long list of country, gospel and urban radio stations already supporting the patients and families at St. Jude.
Nash FM New York, KHKI Des Moines and WFMF Indianapolis are among the more than 200 radio stations nationwide that support St. Jude through the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program, which was founded in 1989 by Alabama front man Randy Owen. Joining the stations that participate in Country Cares, KLOS Los Angeles participated in St. Jude Rocks, raising more than $850,000.
