FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Cumberland Farms announced the opening of a new store in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston at 801 Massachusetts Ave., marking the brand's first urban location to open in Boston since 1981. (If you need a refresher, '81 is when Ronald Reagan reigned, Lady Di married Charles, Blondie was blaring from our boom boxes - and Cumberland Farms proudly opened in South Boston.) Featuring a modernized design and architectural features, the Roxbury store also now offers a range of new, hot food items from pizza slices to grilled hot dogs to fried favorites. In addition, Roxbury features touch screen ordering kiosks where customers can customize their meals. A grand opening event on Tuesday, November 19th will kick-off the store's month-long fundraiser for Boston Medical Center. During the fundraiser, 10 cents from every purchase of Cumberland Farms' iced or hot coffee, brewed teas, fountain sodas, and Chill Zone drinks will be donated to the neighboring hospital.

"Though we have remodeled over 170 retail locations very rapidly over the past 2 years, this store opening is a special one for us. We could not be more proud to make life easier for the busy people of Boston," Ari Haseotes, President of Cumberland Farms. "With our brand new look and store concept, we felt the timing was right for us to provide this vibrant neighborhood with a convenient, affordable option for freshly prepared food and our every day convenience items."
The Roxbury store will celebrate its grand opening event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 19th. The event, which will be held from 12:30-1:30pm, is open to the public. A number of familiar Boston personalities will be in attendance, including Wally the Green Monster and the Amp 103.3 Street Team. Attendees will be offered complimentary food from Cumberland Farms' new menu including pizza, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and more - and as always, everyone's favorite beverages including Farmhouse Blend Coffee and Chill Zone. Representatives from Boston Medical Center will also be on-hand for the ceremony as Cumberland Farms kicks-off its four-week fundraising initiative for the hospital.
"We are grateful to Cumberland Farms for their commitment to our hospital and the expansion of BMC's emergency department and its services," said Norman Stein, Vice President of Development. "Through cause marketing programs like the one we are doing with Cumberland Farms, the store will raise critical funds that will go far in our mission to provide Exceptional Care Without Exception."
