Cumberland County Man Claims $1 Million from Lottery's Millionaire Raffle
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Larry Chestnut of Shippensburg, Cumberland County, won $1 million from the Pennsylvania Lottery's Millionaire Raffle drawing on Jan. 2.
Lottery Area Manager Scott Kauffman today presented a ceremonial check to Chestnut at Isha's Mart in Shippensburg, where the ticket was purchased. The store received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Chestnut, a small-business owner in Newville, said he regularly plays Pennsylvania Lottery games.
"I play Powerball occasionally, but I've been playing the Millionaire Raffle since it began in 2005 because it has the best odds," said Chestnut.
Chestnut and his wife, Gloria, said they are still undecided on what to do with the money, aside from taking care of family.
"We have two children, one who is disabled, so the money will really come in handy," said Chestnut.
Chestnut purchased one of four tickets drawn as a Millionaire Raffle top-prize winner. Each of the top-prize tickets sold was worth $1 million cash, less 25 percent federal withholding. All $1 million top raffle prizes have been claimed. The other three top-prize winners were Thomas Stein of East Berlin, Adams County; John Dailey of Selinsgrove, Snyder County; and Shawn and Stephanie Benton of Altoona, Blair County.
