The company's crowdfunding campaign has gained wide support and has sold more than 2500 dolls, raising over 500% of its goal in less than a week and providing over 25,000 meals to children in need.
"We're delighted to welcome this new partner in our fight to solve global hunger," says Rick Leach, President and CEO of World Food Program USA. "By supporting WFP's school meals program, this company is helping us promote education and provide good nutrition for children in need across the planet."
The Woodgate family, a family of five who created cuddle+kind, was inspired to do so after viewing a moving documentary on childhood hunger. The Indiegogo campaign was launched featuring nine stylish 20" dolls, hand-knit in Peru using fair trade practices and a sustainable giving model. The dolls, each with their own birthdays and personalities, have been a hit with moms and kids with the brand gaining more than 10,000 Facebook followers in three weeks.
"Our hearts are overflowing with the response," says Jennifer Woodgate, Co-Founder of cuddle+kind. "It is truly amazing what can be accomplished when people come together for a common goal."
The cuddle+kind collection currently features nine premium cotton, natural, non-toxic dolls as well as five frameable inspirational prints. Each doll comes with a signature wristband that signifies the meals given with "1 doll = 10 meals". The prints each provide five meals.
cuddle+kind's Indiegogo campaign is planned to run until October 16th, in congruence with World Food Day 2016. For more information on how to get involved, visit the website and connect with cuddle+kind on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
