"While the credit union community has been more female friendly than most, plenty of work remains to be done to obtain true equality," CU Times Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Sarah Snell Cooke said. "Female credit union executives deserve to be appropriately recognized for the talents they bring to the credit union community."
Female CEOs dominate the less-than-$50 million in assets credit unions, but the roles are switched higher up the ranks. A recent Executive Compensation Solutions survey found that the average female CEO's salary was $178,080 in 2013, compared to $172,756 in 2012. Comparatively, the average male CEO's salary was $223,834 in 2013, up from $208,231 in 2012. "CU Times is proud to be a part of raising the issue of gender diversity and equality at the highest ranks of the credit union community," Cooke said. "We hope that by highlighting these Women to Watch, CU Times can play a small role in increasing women at the top. Study after study has demonstrated that companies with more female leaders perform better. It's simply sound business practice to elevate more talented women to the corner offices of credit unions."
