CTSI partnered, this year, with TechConnect, Fraunhofer TechBridge, Department of Energy, and Kauffman Foundation to award three organizations with up to $100,000 in pilot-demonstration funds for the testing of their solutions. Additionally, one company will win the 'Top Solution' recognition award.
"We feel honored to be one of the finalists for the Utility Technology Challenge. Recognition from the Clean Technology and Sustainable Industries Organization, and its esteemed group of Organizing and Challenge Partners, provides Retroficiency and all of the other innovative finalists with significant validation as we seek to further grow our relationships with forward-thinking utilities," said Bennett Fisher, CEO of Retroficiency.
In June, at the TechConnect World conference, a committee of utility and corporate integrators, who selected the finalists, will judge the solution presentations and determine 'Top Solution' awardees. The committee includes: Arsenal Venture Partners, Anaheim Center for New Energy Technologies (AC-NET), Austin Energy, Constellation Energy, National Grid, Northeast Utilities, Shell GameChanger, Southern California Edison, and TechConnect.
"With over double the number of submissions this year, the committee had a challenging job narrowing down the finalists," noted UTC Chair, Patti Glaza, Principal at Arsenal Venture Partners. "Our focus in now on proof, scale and overall impact to energy systems."
The mission of the Challenge is to help close the commercialization gap between prototype and market adoption for clean technology companies. In prior years, committee members have piloted and become customers of the Utility Technology Challenge finalists.
