"CTIA and the wireless industry are excited about the President's focus to ensure the entire U.S. wireless ecosystem continues to lead the world in investment and innovation. We are eager to work with the White House to expand the next generation of mobile broadband access to more than 98 percent of Americans within the next five years. As numerous studies have shown, the ability to use mobile broadband anytime, anywhere is a great equalizer that offers tremendous benefit for consumers and drives the U.S. economy.
"The President, along with the majority of policymakers in Washington, realize that in order for the U.S. wireless industry to continue to meet consumer demand and fuel the 'virtuous cycle' of innovation and competition, we must have more spectrum. Our members are willing to spend billions of dollars to purchase reallocated spectrum at auction so we can remain the world's leading wireless industry and provide consumers with the best products and services. This spectrum will continue to enhance not only competition, innovation and investment in urban areas, but will also allow rural providers to use the additional spectrum to drive greater speeds and capacity as they compete with other land-based broadband providers.
"We look forward to working with the FCC, NTIA and policymakers as they work to implement each of the President's initiatives."
