WASHINGTON, Feb. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In response to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) releasing its voluntary cybersecurity framework, please attribute the following statement to CTIA-The Wireless Association® President and CEO Steve Largent:

"While we are still reviewing the voluntary cybersecurity framework, we commend the efforts by NIST and the Administration to work collaboratively with the wireless industry on this important issue.

"Though the framework represents a potentially important step forward, it remains absolutely vital for Congress to enact information sharing and liability protection legislation so that companies may discuss cyberthreats and collaborate to develop answers to stop them as soon as possible. We remain hopeful that Congress will act by the end of the year to achieve this objective."
