CTIA Offers Developers the Chance to Create Official CTIA Show App for its Premier Events
Washington, June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CTIA–The Wireless Association®, today announced its sponsorship of Wireless Industry Partnership's (WIP's) The Muther! of all Hackathons, a 36-hour, non-stop competition to build the industry's hottest new mobile apps. Supporting the event with its CTIA Brand Scrum, developers can win two prize packages worth more than $25,000 each, and have the opportunity to be the official show app supplier of CTIA's two signature events, CTIA ENTERPRISE & APPLICATIONS™ and International CTIA WIRELESS® 2012. The Muther! of all Hackathons takes place June 24-25, at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

In the CTIA Brand Scrum, the organization is looking for a prototype that reflects, amplifies and conveys the energy and buzz around its events. The app should be both attractive and useful; a high-performance tool for CTIA event attendees to discover what's happening and connect with each other. The organization looks forward to hearing fantastic, outrageous, out-of-the-box ideas that will ultimately drive new experiences at its shows.
"CTIA believes in supporting industry talent at all levels and sponsoring The Muther! of all Hackathons is a great way to encourage the best and brightest in the dynamic development community," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director at CTIA. "In addition, the association has researched and developed mobile industry best practices and believes in carrying those messages far and wide. The Muther! gives us an opportunity to share our insights with the generation of developers who will define the next 20 years of wireless evolution. In the grander scheme, by engaging these incredibly creative minds to develop the ultimate show app, CTIA events can better deliver on its promise of being the wireless industry's premier destination."
The Brand Scrum winner will receive a prize package worth more than $25,000, including a booth, ad space in the show guide, VIP passes, a Buzz Zone interview, free entry into show awards programs and party passes for the upcoming CTIA show of their choice. In addition, provided CTIA uses the winning app, the organization will officially promote the developers along with the app itself. CTIA has also donated a separate booth package for WIP to award at its discretion to the winner of another Muther! challenge.
WIP focuses on creating connections in the mobile industry, supporting the overall ecosystem by encouraging discussions, co-creation and exchange. WIP's goal is to make the path easier for mobile developers and ISVs to reduce cycle times and increase innovation.
