CSUSM Launching New Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree Beginning This Fall
SAN MARCOS, Calif., June 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- California State University San Marcos will offer a Master's degree in Social Work beginning this Fall*. There are over 100 applicants for the new MSW degree which was approved in the late May. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis and will be accepted until the first cohort is full. The priority admission deadline for Fall 2013 is June 30, 2013.
"We are excited to be able to offer the MSW degree to meet a need for ethical and effective social workers who are culturally sensitive and attuned to the needs of the many diverse populations in our region," said CSUSM President Karen Haynes.
The MSW program at CSUSM will encompass 60-units of coursework that may be completed in 2 years on a full-time basis or 3 years on a part-time basis. Students will choose one of two concentrations: Children, Youth and Families (CYF), or Behavioral Health (BH). Students in either concentration may also select an additional optional specialization from one of two areas: Health Care and Older Adults or Military and Veteran's Services.
