SAN DIEGO, Sept. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The California State University Institute for Palliative Care (csupalliativecare.org) in collaboration with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO www.nhpco.org) announced a full-day preconference workshop, "Leading the Way to Community-Based Palliative Care Success." This full-day event at NHPCO's Clinical Team Conference will arm hospice providers, health systems, aging service providers, hospitals and others with actionable tools for researching, planning, and implementing their own community-based palliative care program. This seminar will preface the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Clinical Team Conference in Grapevine, Texas October 14th.
Watch This Video Overview of the Training:
CSU Institute for Palliative Care Executive Director Helen McNeal explained: "As more people are living longer, often with multiple chronic conditions or illnesses, the need for palliative care has greatly increased. That's why we have teamed with the NHPCO to bring foundational strategy, planning, and implementation tools to executive and clinical leaders attending this year's conference so they can more effectively meet this need in communities across America."
This Course is Ideal For:
Executive and clinical leaders of health systems, home health agencies, hospices, aging service providers, hospitals and physician practices, including:
- CEOs, CFOs, COOs
- Physicians and medical directors
- Director of Nursing
- Director of Social Services
- Business Development Directors
Establishing a community based palliative care program (CBPC) involves extensive community research, consensus building among clinical, professional, and community leaders, solid business development planning, tactical execution, and continuous improvement processes. Attendees at this first-of-its kind preconference workshop will learn tools to carry out these steps.
Participants will be able to return to their communities ready to begin the research and planning necessary for implementing a successful community-based palliative care program. Karl E. Steinberg, MD, CMD, HMDC, of Stone Mountain Medical Associates, Inc., Oceanside, CA, relates the importance of this training: "When I began exploring palliative care options outside of hospice and inpatient hospital-based palliative care in our area, there was very little available. Many local administrative leaders had not heard of community-based palliative care, and had difficulty understanding, much less supporting, some of this work. I'm pleased that our learning community is reaching out proactively to executives as well as clinical leaders to promote an organized and supportive approach in establishing successful palliative care programs."
Course Faculty for This Seminar:
Attendees will learn from faculty who have worked with hundreds of organizations in all stages of palliative care program development to plan, deploy and sustain palliative care services.
