KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., March 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of the upcoming World Primary Immunodeficiencies (PI) Week, CSL Behring is proud to sponsor Immune Deficiency Foundation's new PI Voices, Young Adult Webinar Series. The program has been developed to address the unique needs of young adults living with primary immunodeficiency, a patient group that has been traditionally challenging to reach and engage.
The series consists of five live webinars covering topics ranging from career management, medical care prioritization, insurance transitions, family planning and health/social life balance. The webinars are live and offer the opportunity for participants to ask questions of panel experts and connect with other audience members who may share their experience of living with primary immunodeficiency.
"We recognize that young adulthood is a critical time for people with primary immunodeficiency. For the first time, many are taking responsibility of their own care, impacting all aspects of their life," comments Marcia Boyle, IDF President & Founder. "We are so grateful for CSL Behring's support of our new, interactive program, giving this age group a valuable opportunity to learn how to manage these concerns."
"A critical part of supporting PI patients is sponsoring programs like this that can connect them to experts and each other," adds Biju Chorinchath, Senior Director US Immunology Marketing for CSL Behring. "We are driven by our promise to be a true partner to our patients throughout their journey."
There series for young adults living with PI schedule includes:
The webinars are free, but registration is required. Recordings of each webinar will be available shortly after the live events. For more information, please visit: http://primaryimmune.org/young-adults/webinars/
About the Immune Deficiency Foundation
The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), founded in 1980, is the national non-profit patient organization dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment and quality of life of persons with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PI) through advocacy, education and research. There are approximately 250,000 people who are diagnosed with a PI in the U.S. These individuals often find it difficult to receive specialized healthcare, proper diagnosis and treatment. Individuals affected by PI also experience difficulties financing their healthcare, finding educational materials on the disease and locating others with whom to share their experiences. IDF helps these individuals overcome these difficulties and live a healthy and productive life. To learn more about IDF, visit www.primaryimmune.org.
