CSID Panel Discussion -- After Alan Kurdi: New Perspectives on a Sustainable Solution for Syria
WASHINGTON, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID) invites you to a panel discussion entitled "After Alan Kurdi: New Perspectives on a Sustainable Solution for Syria" to take place on Thursday, September 10 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the National Press Club Holeman Lounge. An all-star panel of Syria experts will include Radwan Ziadeh of the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies, Mohammed Ghanem of the Syrian American Alliance, Faysal Itani of the Atlantic Council, and Najib Ghadbian, the Representative to the United States of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces. The panel has been tasked with presenting sustainable solutions to the Syria crisis.
The tragic death of Alan Kurdi and images of tens of thousands of Syrian refugees fleeing the Syrian crisis on foot across Europe has transformed the global conversation about the Syrian crisis. Millions of families and thousands of institutions and organizations around the globe have opened their hearts to the plight of the Syrian people in ways unprecedented since the beginning of the Syrian conflict. With new global awareness of the plight of over 9 million Syrian refugees and displaced people, now more than ever is the time to take stock of how we can help solve it one of the worst human catastrophes of our time. In addition to addressing the refugee and migration issue, the only way ultimately to resolve the problem is to develop the political will to find a sustainable solution that stops the carnage and begins Syria's long slow journey back to health.
