CrowdStrike Services President and Former FBI Executive Assistant Director Shawn Henry Joins SignatureLink Board of Directors
RIDGELAND, Miss., Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Shawn Henry is known worldwide as an expert on cybercrime. Henry, who retired as FBI Executive Assistant Director (EAD) of the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch in March 2012 and became president of CrowdStrike Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of cybersecurity start-up CrowdStrike, the following month, has spent most of his career bringing down cybercriminals. Now, Henry has agreed to bring his unparalleled skill set to the SignatureLink Board of Directors.
Henry became a recognized leader in the fight against cybercrime in 1999 and has been advancing the field of cybersecurity ever since. As FBI EAD, Henry was in charge of all cyber programs and investigations around the globe and was integral in stopping the entities behind major denial-of-service attacks, breaches of bank and corporate cybersecurity, and even intrusions spurred by nation-states.
"If you want to know anything about cybercrime or cybersecurity, you go to Shawn Henry," stated Greg Wooten, CEO of SignatureLink. "He is the best in the field, and we are honored to announce that he has joined the SignatureLink Board of Directors."
At CrowdStrike Services, Henry and his team of elite cybersecurity professionals help organizations and enterprises protect their most sensitive intellectual property and national security information. The career move was a natural progression for Henry, who helped establish the FBI-led National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force (NCIJTF), a multi-agency effort that collaborates on cyberthreat investigations worldwide.
Henry has been recognized professionally for his contributions to the field of cybersecurity. In 2009, he received the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Executive for his efforts at enhancing the FBI's cyber capabilities. That same year, SC Magazine recognized him as a pioneer who had helped to shape the industry. In 2010, Security Magazine named Henry one of the most influential people in security. He also received the Federal 100 Award for his work as a leader in the federal government information technology (IT) community, and McAfee Inc. named Henry cybercrime fighter of the year.
Henry was a rising star from the beginning of his cybersecurity career. He served as a member of the High-Tech Crime Subgroup of the 1999 Group of Eight (G8), a gathering of the world's largest economies. An original member of the National Cyber Study Group, Henry helped develop the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI), an initiative of the U.S. Government to secure cyberspace and shut down threats.
"Shawn's background in fighting cybercrime makes him an excellent fit for SignatureLink," Wooten explained. "Our focus is on stabilizing eCommerce through helping merchants fight online payment fraud with the industry's only all-in-one SecureBuy™ fraud solution. We value Shawn's input on the ever-changing threat of eCommerce fraud and welcome him to the SignatureLink team."
