What: |
2nd Annual International Day for Dreamers |
The International Day for Dreamers is the first ever global day of observance that honors the dreamer in everyone. CrowdIt supports this global event that will include local, live events, as well as virtual ones - visit the link below to learn more about all of the related activities (http://www.dayfordreamers.com/events/event/). |
Celebrated on every continent, International Day for Dreamers is a much-needed rallying cry for people to bring forth their vision for what is possible and move it forward, no matter how big or small that vision may be. Everyone from around the world is invited to participate in free live and virtual events or encouraged to create their own event by bringing family, friends, colleagues and the community together to Dream, then do, together. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s, "I Have a Dream" speech; we honor the contribution dreams can make to world (http://bit.ly/DD2013VIDEO). |
DreamFunding |
DreamFunding goes far beyond the funding event – it is a way to tap and create support systems amongst businesses, communities and social networks communities and/or networks for overcoming the very obstacles that get in the way of our dream aspirations (lack of funding, lack of experience, fear, self-sabotage, etc.). For the 2013 International Day for Dreamers, CrowdIt has joined the movement in order to support people as they begin the process of funding their dreams via a new fundraising model called crowdfunding (http://www.crowdit.com/home/about). CrowdIt itself is a strong believer in Dreamers and in Ozioma Egwuonwu's goal of bringing people from all over the world together to participate in a transformational experience that will support them in changing their lives, businesses and communities for the benefit of the world. Here's how it works – simply create an account with CrowdIt by going here: (https://www.crowdit.com/account/Register/DreamDayDreamer).Once the Dream is created, submit it to the CrowdIt community for review. If CrowdIt is satisfied that it can help, then it will publish your Dream to the rest of the community. If you need extra support in creating and uploading your Dream, The International Day for Dreamers team and CrowdIt are happy to help. |
Here is an example dream from Patrick Gilchrist called the Dreamstone project (https://www.crowdit.com/dreamdetails/Details/639). Gilchrist not only believes in the work done by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but wants to commemorate his "I Have a Dream" speech with a limited and unique physical piece of history created with cobblestones from the Lincoln Memorial (where hundreds of thousands of people gathered nearly 50 years ago). "Everything starts from a dream – all the great thinkers in history put their dreams into practice, as their specific purpose in life," explained Gilchirst. "I want to further a dream predicated on Dr. King's concept of 'Sombodiness' that everybody is somebody. The funds raised through the Dreamstone project will be used to support organizations and individuals that help families, women and children move out of poverty." |
