Crothall Healthcare: Standards Fit for a Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association
CIMS Certification Means Fewer HAIs for Healthcare Customers
WAYNE, Pa., June 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Crothall Healthcare announced its third certification by the ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, by completing the requirements for CIMS (Cleaning Industry Management Standard) with honors. Crothall was also proud to receive its second distinction of CIMS-GB (Green Building) with Honors.
CIMS is a rigorous program that sets a standard of excellence for building service contractors. Implementation of the Standard's signature framework, which is built around six universally accepted quality principles—Quality Systems; Service Delivery; Human Resources; Health, Safety, & Environmental Stewardship; Management/Leadership Commitment; and Green Building & Services—establishes Crothall as a high-performance, customer-focused cleaning organization. With a Standard as tough as the regulations protecting healthcare customers, CIMS certification should result in fewer HAIs, un-reimbursable events for our clients.
"We see CIMS certification as a key differentiator," said President Tom Racobaldo. "Complying with the ISSA's rigorous standards has prepared our healthcare environmental services teams to pass any government regulatory inspection. We are honored to have this organization recognize us as a company of excellence in our industry."
To become certified for the third time, Crothall Healthcare again demonstrated its compliance with the requirements described in the five sections of management best practices that make up the Standard. An independent, accredited assessor conducted an on-site review of a substantial number of randomly-selected customer facilities. The assessor evaluated systems, processes, and documentation to ensure compliance. "Crothall had to meet 100 percent of the mandatory elements and 60 percent of the recommended elements per section to achieve certification," Rich Feczko, Director of Systems, Standards, and Global Support explained. Feczko spearheads standardization for Crothall and aligns company processes and documentation to meet ISSA and regulatory criteria.
Crothall Healthcare also earned, for the second time, CIMS-GB with Honors. "This distinction certifies our commitment to the delivery of environmentally preferable services," said Feczko. "At Crothall, we are proving our capability in providing green cleaning services and assisting our customers in achieving points under LEED."
"Achieving CIMS as well as CIMS-GB validates the excellence of our Crothall Healthcare environmental services program," said Racobaldo. "This achievement places us as a high-quality healthcare environmental services organization among a select group of housekeeping organizations. The people of Crothall Healthcare should get all of the credit for their hard work and diligence in reaching this highest level of standards."

About CIMS
CIMS sets forth a management framework for operational excellence. The Standard was developed through a true consensus-based process that brought together representatives of the cleaning, facilities management, and purchasing communities. In total, more than 100,000 constituents were represented in the process, which included full peer review, and was administered by ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, and the American Institute for Cleaning Sciences (AICS). Certification to the Standard demonstrates that an organization's systems, processes and procedures are structured to deliver consistent, quality, and customer-focused service.
