Crossroads Hospice Announces Call for Nominations for "Caring More" Award Honoring Dayton Social Worker
Nominations for $1,000 award due July 15th
DAYTON, Ohio, May 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Social workers give so much to our communities every day, but seldom get special recognition for their tireless efforts. In a move to honor social workers and their advocacy for those in need, in 2010 Crossroads Hospice launched the "Caring More" award for a social worker who goes above and beyond for his/her patients and community. Nominations are currently being accepted for this year's award.
The award includes a $500 cash prize for the winner and $500 to the charity of his or her choice. It also includes a breakfast in the winner's honor. The award will be given to the nominee who "does more" to improve lives through their work and beyond. Judges will consider the candidate's professional accomplishments, patient advocacy efforts and contributions to the community.
All nominees must be full-time social workers with a minimum of a bachelor's degree who work primarily with chronically ill patients and are employed in the Butler, Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren county region. Judging will be based on a 2-page narrative and up to five letters of support. The application is available at www.crossroadshospice.com/SWDayton.
"Social workers are the unsung heroes we depend on everyday. They go out of their way to connect the ill to resources, counsel their families and give them the special time and attention they need," said Peggy Richardson, Executive Director of Crossroads Hospice in Dayton. "They do difficult work without seeking recognition, but we believe they deserve to be thanked and honored."
