Crossbeam Systems Certifies Sourcefire 3D Sensor 4.9 on Its Next Generation Security Platform
Sourcefire 3D Sensor 4.9 Running on the X-Series Delivers Intelligent Cybersecurity Protection to Large Enterprises and Service Providers with Industry-Leading Network IPS Performance
BOXBOROUGH, Mass., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossbeam Systems, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation security platforms for high-performance networks, today announced that it has certified Sourcefire 3D Sensor version 4.9 to run on its X-Series security platform. Sourcefire's 4.9 release offers Crossbeam customers expanded application awareness, streamlined policy management and increased dashboard customization.
Sourcefire 3D Sensor is an intelligent cybersecurity solution that combines a rules-based intrusion prevention system (IPS) with real-time network awareness (RNA®) to protect all areas of the network, from the perimeter to the core. Sourcefire 3D Sensor version 4.9 on Crossbeam's X-Series platform delivers the following advanced security capabilities:
- Efficient, Linear Infrastructure Scalability – Performance capacity rises at a constant rate as the system scales from 4 Gbps to 40 Gbps through the virtualization of network resources and IPS security services.
- Reduced Complexity and Total Cost of Ownership – Massive consolidation of load balancers, IPS appliances and switches provides the industry's lowest TCO. Combining IPS and firewall services on the same Crossbeam platform reduces both capital and operating expenditures.
- Streamlined IPS Policy Management – Streamlined management of IPS policies in two key ways:
- Policy Layering – A Sourcefire industry first, enables enterprises with multiple IPS policies to construct them in building blocks, making it easy to create and modify policies by geography, site, department or even by user.
- Policy per VLAN or Subnet – Enables organizations to inspect traffic differently for distinct network segments connecting to common IPS interfaces, providing greater flexibility and use of Crossbeam X-Series resources.
"Crossbeam's certification of Sourcefire 3D Sensor 4.9 enables large enterprises and service providers to take advantage of the strengths of both solutions – best-in-class intrusion prevention from Sourcefire with industry-leading performance provided by the X-Series," said Greg Fitzgerald, senior vice president of marketing at Sourcefire. "Sourcefire 3D Sensor running on Crossbeam secures critical physical and virtual assets without the fear of disrupting business operations."
Sourcefire was certified through Crossbeam's iBeam certification program, which rigorously tests the compatibility, interoperability and performance of best-in-class security applications from independent software vendors (ISVs) running on the X-Series. In iBeam tests, the combined ISV software and X-Series hardware are placed in a laboratory environment that recreates the complex, layered security architectures of large enterprise and service provider networks, and are stressed with extreme traffic loads embedded with security threats to simulate real-world conditions. iBeam certification assures customers that deploying Sourcefire 3D Sensor 4.9 on the X-Series will provide the carrier-class performance and reliability they require.
"The certification of Sourcefire 3D Sensor 4.9 on the X-Series enables us to combine IPS and virtualized next-generation firewall onto a single platform for our customers," said Jim Freeze, chief marketing officer for Crossbeam. "It shows our ongoing commitment to provide a solution that delivers a choice of virtualized best-of-breed security solutions on a single, carrier-class platform that meets customers' requirements for reliability, performance and scalability."
Crossbeam's X-Series Next Generation Security Platform virtualizes best-in-class, third-party security applications on a highly scalable, carrier-class chassis. High-performance enterprises and service providers deploy the X-Series to consolidate and virtualize their existing security infrastructure for cost savings and to ease the IT management burden without sacrificing security performance, high levels of throughput or reliability. The X-Series' capacity to consolidate entire network security segments onto a single device delivers the lowest total cost of ownership among competing security solutions.
