FORT LEE, N.J., Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cross River, the financial services organization that merges the established expertise of a bank with the innovation and product offering of a technology company, announced today the appointment of Phil Goldfeder as VP of Government Affairs. Goldfeder will lead a team at Cross River working with regulatory agencies and policy makers in Washington, D.C., as well as state governments across the U.S., to implement appropriate regulatory frameworks that will encourage innovation while ensuring consumer protection.
With almost 15 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, including a previous part-time role at Cross River as Director of Government Affairs, Goldfeder began his career in public service as a community liaison for the New York City Council, which soon led to a position as a Borough Director for the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit under Michael Bloomberg. His ability to unite disparate interest groups caught the attention of New York Senator Charles E. Schumer, who hired him as his Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. In this role, Goldfeder collaborated with other elected officials, financial institutions, and community organizations to advance new initiatives in transportation, immigration, and healthcare.
In September of 2011, Goldfeder was elected to represent the 23rd District in the New York State Assembly, which encompasses southern Queens and Rockaway. After most of his district was devastated during Superstorm Sandy, Goldfeder spearheaded relief efforts and was considered a champion of the recovery. He served on several legislative committees and authored bills to address banking, insurance, and tax issues in the wake of the storm's devastation.
"We are thrilled to welcome Phil back to the Cross River family, where his passion for service, ability to bring people together and effect positive change within the industry will make him an invaluable addition to our senior management team," said Gilles Gade, President and CEO of Cross River. "As our company continues to evolve, Phil's deep knowledge of government affairs and adroit understanding of the regulatory landscape will enable Cross River to stay ahead of the rapidly moving regulatory environment and establish ourselves as a standard-bearer for compliance and consumer protection."
