CRN Reports VMware CEO Gelsinger to Step Down after Dell Merger, VMware Denies Story
WESTBOROUGH, Mass., May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger is planning to leave the company once Dell closes its acquisition of EMC, multiple sources with knowledge of the executive's plans told CRN Tuesday.
CRN, the leading media outlet for IT solution providers, reported replacement candidates are already under consideration. Sources told CRN that Tony Bates, the former Microsoft executive who joined VMware's board in February and is currently president of video camera vendor GoPro, is being considered, as are others inside of Dell, EMC and VMware.
