CRL NIR Section Treats 2500th Brain Aneurysm

MINNEAPOLIS, May 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Consulting Radiologists, Ltd.'s (CRL) neurointerventional radiology (NIR) team at Abbott Northwestern Hospital's Neuroscience Institute reached their latest milestone. CRL neurointerventionalists Drs. Josser Delgado and Yasha Kayan treated the 2,500th brain aneurysm at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. The 2,500th aneurysm case consisted of a stent-assisted coil embolization of a large, multi-lobulated basilar tip aneurysm - the artery located in the back of the brain supplying the brainstem.

Endovascular brain aneurysm treatment is minimally invasive and provides a faster recovery time for patients. During coil embolization, the most common endovascular aneurysm treatment technique, soft platinum coils are deposited into the aneurysm sac via a microcatheter to block blood flow into the aneurysm.

Drs. Dr. Adam Wallace, who is currently completing his fellowship at Mallinckrodt, will be joining the practice this summer.
