Crittenton Hospital Medical Center to Become Part of Ascension Michigan
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ascension has signed a definitive agreement with Crittenton Hospital Medical Center for the facility to become part of Ascension Michigan.
Crittenton Hospital Medical Center will bring a strong Northern Oakland County presence to the statewide service area of Ascension Michigan, which includes St. John Providence in southeast Michigan, Borgess Health in Kalamazoo, Genesys in Grand Blanc, St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw and Standish, and St. Joseph Health System in Tawas.
"We look forward to welcoming the associates, physicians, and clinicians of Crittenton to Ascension and Ascension Michigan," said Robert J. Henkel, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension Health, and Executive Vice President, Ascension. "This change enhances the ability of Ascension Michigan in fulfilling our Mission to provide compassionate, personalized care to all persons in the region, especially those who are struggling."
In January, the Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Board of Trustees chose to join Ascension Michigan following months of evaluating proposals from various health systems. A letter of intent was signed to proceed with the due-diligence process.
Ascension Health Senior Vice President and Michigan Ministry Market Executive Gwen MacKenzie sent a letter to all associates today in anticipation of welcoming them to the Ascension family, adding, "I am confident that we will do great work together in our communities."
"I want to thank Crittenton's leadership, physicians, Board of Trustees and associates, for their strong commitment to the future of the hospital and the community it loyally serves," said MacKenzie. "We soon will begin to align our centers of excellence and invest in expanding key programs."
In becoming part of Ascension Michigan, Crittenton Hospital Medical Center will increase its ability to pursue its goal of creating a clinically integrated system of care that will be positioned to manage the health of populations in partnership with insurers. As part of the largest non-profit health system in the country, Ascension, the hospital will enjoy the support of a national system that is benefiting from shared best clinical practices, cost efficiencies, and quality improvements.
"Those we serve will have the perfect combination of a community hospital atmosphere and convenience, supported by access to a large network of specialists, technology, tertiary services and trauma services," said Robert Lenihan, Board Chair. "This is very positive news for the community we have served for nearly 50 years. Our physicians are already collaborating to plan comprehensive, integrated services and networks of care."
Financial terms of the transaction will not be disclosed.
