LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Crimson Forest Entertainment (CRIM: OTCBB), a global independent motion picture studio, today announced it will produce the science-fiction action thriller "Convergence" starring Paul Wesley.
Wesley's credits include starring in the worldwide hit television drama "The Vampire Diaries," as well as IFC's November release "Before I Disappear" (SXSW Audience Award Winner), which he also produced, and the upcoming festival favorite, "Amira and Sam" from Drafthouse Films. He will produce with Adam Schroeder, whose award winning films include "The Truman Show," "Chronicle," and "Sleepy Hollow." Schroeder is currently in pre-production on Chris Gorak's "Attach" for Paramount Pictures. Benjamin Tappan will serve as executive producer with Justin Begnaud and Jonathan Lim on board as producers.
In the vein of "Flatliners," "The Matrix," and "Fight Club," "Convergence" follows a group of underground biotechnology engineers, including an MIT student wunderkind, who advances a new technology far beyond expectations and the limits of human control. Production is slated to begin filming in Shanghai and Atlanta in spring, 2015.
"We are very excited to work with Paul Wesley on this project and believe the film will resonate with audiences on a global scale," said Jonathan Lim, chief executive officer of Crimson Forest Entertainment. "The film's plotline and cast of characters align perfectly with our distribution objectives and we look forward to hitting the ground running in 2015 with a talented cast and crew."
Based on an original screenplay written by Jeff Richard, whose credits include "The Waiting," "Convergence" will be co-produced by China Film Assist and Dadi Digital Cinema Ltd.
Wesley is represented by ICM Partners and Jackoway, Tyerman, Wertheimer, Austen, Mandelbaum, Morris & Klein, and Richard is represented by WME.
The deal was negotiated by Justin Begnaud of Crimson Forest and Ian Stratford of Gray, Krauss, Stratford, Sandler, DesRochers, LLP.
