CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As the popularity of apartment living continues to surge nationwide, Crescent Communities is changing the name of its multifamily development in SouthPark from "Circle" to "Crescent," more closely aligning Crescent's overall emphasis on community building and innovative design in all of its developments.

"Crescent is focusing on innovation in all aspects of our work, including how we design and build multifamily communities for the way people live today," said Brian Natwick, president of Crescent's Multifamily Group. "By shifting the name of our apartment communities, we are signifying when you see the Crescent name on a development, whether it's apartments or mixed use, you can be confident of a thoughtful approach to every aspect of the community, from site selection to amenities and from sustainability to community building."
The name change will take place at Crescent's multifamily property under development in Charlotte's SouthPark neighborhood. Crescent SouthPark, a $52 million luxury apartment community opening in 2014, features signage along the property to reflect the name change.
Apartment building is surging nationwide as an increasing number of people are drawn to the rich package of amenities offered by developers such as Crescent. An ever-changing jobs market is also motivating individuals and families to elect apartment living for the increased career flexibility that rental housing can provide, according to Ben Collins, Crescent vice president - Carolinas and Tennessee.
"Site selection has never been more crucial as multifamily dwellers are drawn to locations that offer easy access to opportunities for work and play," Collins said. "By extending the Crescent name to our multi-family properties, potential residents can rely on apartments that recognize how the world is changing. We are creating Crescent multifamily communities as authentic places that resemble villages with common areas where people can network and access services that enrich their lives."
Crescent SouthPark features 321 apartment homes on Carnegie Boulevard adjacent to Piedmont Town Center near SouthPark Mall. In addition to luxurious apartment features, residents of the upscale community will enjoy a well-appointed club room, resort-style saltwater pool with aqua-sundeck, outdoor kitchen, and a two-story health club. Additionally, a two-acre dog park is set within the community's four-acre tree preserve. Crescent SouthPark is a registered member of the Audubon International Signature Program and is working toward designation as a Certified Signature Sanctuary as well as achievement of its NAHB/EnergyStar certification (application pending).
Crescent SouthPark is the first of four multifamily communities being developed by Crescent Communities in the Charlotte region. Crescent Alexander Village will open in early 2014 and Crescent Dilworth is slated to open in spring 2015. Circle University City, an off-campus luxury living option for students at UNC Charlotte, will open summer 2014.
