Leading Chinese financial technology company CreditEase, also the parent company of online consumer finance marketplace Yirendai (NYSE: YRD), today announced that its founder and CEO Tang Ning will speak at a panel on The Innovation Economy at the 2016 APEC CEO Summit held from November 17 to 19 in Lima, Peru.
The CEO Summit, which has been attended by world leaders such as United States President Barack Obama in the past, takes place ahead of the November 20 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and will bring together leading business and political minds to discuss issues of critical significance to the region. Senior leaders from 21 APEC member economies including Peru, Russia and the US and CEOs of Fortune 500 corporations as well as academic elites from the Asia-Pacific region are expected to attend the summit under this year's theme of "Quality Growth and Human Development".
As the only Chinese financial-technology company participating in the CEO Summit representing Chinese successful innovative enterprises, CreditEase will introduce to the world how new technology bring changes and developments to the financial industry as well as the economy in China. At the panel on November 18, Mr. Tang will share lessons from CreditEase's substantial expertise in helping entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on how business and government can work together to foster innovation and expand opportunities.
"Innovation in the financial sector has never been more essential than it is today. China is in a new stage of poverty alleviation and inclusive growth made possible by continuous technological developments," said Mr. Tang. "We at CreditEase are excited about the potential of innovative technology in revolutionizing and increasing access to financial services for all. We are committed to maintaining the momentum and sharing our learnings with the world."
Fintech has emerged as one of the most innovative sectors in the global economy. As China is experiencing a rapid boom in internet finance, CreditEase, which was started by Mr. Tang 10 years ago as the country's first peer-to-peer lending company, has evolved as a leader in financial innovation.
The company provides a wide array of services aiming at helping people who have traditionally lacked access to financing to start their own businesses, which plays an active role in economic development. Its supply chain financial platform YiqiFin has helped more than 20,000 micro, small and medium enterprises in China to raise 20 billion RMB in three years, while Yinongdai, a micro-loan program for Chinese farmers, helped over 20,000 female farmers to start their businesses with 200 million RMB. Furthermore, CreditEase's innovative financial platforms allow high net worth individuals to invest in new businesses and play an important role in increasing society's access to financial services.
CreditEase has also been a leading Chinese investor in global financial innovation through products such as its robo-adviser Toumi RA and intelligent insurance, among others. Starting to set up funds to invest globally in 2012, the company established its Fintech Investment Fund in 2015 with an equivalent of $1 billion specialized in identifying promising start-ups and leaders in global financial technology businesses.
