Creative Week Festival Reveals "Creativity for the Greater Good"
Water is Life, 9/11 Museum Designer, CitiBike, LGBT Communications Among Featured
NEW YORK, April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The One Club (www.oneclub.org), producers of the prestigious One Show Awards, today announced this year's theme for its weeklong festival, Creative Week: "Creativity for the Greater Good." The 2014 Creative Week program includes several presentations, panels and other sessions that promote sustainability, equality and community.
"This year, Creative Week is using its platform to promote the efforts that the creative community has made to make the world a better place," said Mary Warlick, CEO of The One Club. "We're showing that advertising is not just about selling products, it's about raising awareness. Last year, The One Show awarded Best of Show to "Dumb Ways to Die," a public awareness message for safety on Metro Trains. The following are some highlights from the 2014 Creative Week program:
- DDB and Water is Life: Matt Eastwood, Chief Creative Officer of DDB New York explores the agency's work for WATERisLIFE, with Kristine Bender, executive director of the charitable group. They will discuss their most recent and inspiring film, "Kenya Bucket List" as well as two upcoming projects, "The Drinkable Book" and "The Girl Who Couldn't Cry."
- More Human Interfaces: Jake Barton, Local Projects Founder and Principal, will share some secrets to developing work that uses innovation to make a point. Drawing for everything from the 9/11 Memorial Museum to GE and the Eisenhower Memorial with Frank Gehry, Jake will discuss some techniques for making interfaces more human.
- LGBT Communications: Tham Khai Meng, Worldwide Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy & Mather, presents an examination of LGBT communications, including the cultural and social touchstones that informed it.
- Fred Dust/IDEO: A partner at award-winning design consultancy IDEO, Fred Dust will be the keynote speaker at The One Show – Design and Print Advertising where he will discuss social innovation and how to engage cause-based work.
- Citibike/Publicis: The advertising network behind the branded bike sharing system that made cycling fashionable again while promoting a greener lifestyle discusses the origins of the program and the challenges it faced going to market.
- The One Show: The single most important awards show for advertising and design takes place on Friday, May 9, at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.
Creative Week, the preeminent festival celebrating the intersection of advertising and the arts, will take place from May 5 to May 9 at various locations in New York City, including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Stage37, the New York Times Center and the IAC Building. Last year, over 5,000 people from over 60 countries attended.
