Crayon Collection Hosts Top Comedians in an All-Star "Comedy for a Cause" Fundraising Event

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In an evening sure to be unforgettable, some of Hollywood's best-known comedians will be winning laughs and earning funds for the Crayon Collection (www.crayoncollection.org), an eco-conscious, non-profit initiative that collects and redistributes gently-used crayons to under-funded schools. The event, "Comedy for a Cause," will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at 8:00 p.m. at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.

Crayon Collection founder Sheila Michail Morovati couldn't be more thrilled with the response so far. "Billions of crayons are thrown away in the United States each year," she explained, "while the average elementary school teacher spends $750 of personal income to buy classroom supplies. Our mission is to help level that playing field. We're delighted to partner with these amazing comedians and this iconic comedy venue to help build awareness for what we're trying to accomplish."

The event follows a recent high-profile collaboration with producers Exodus Film Group and Magnolia Pictures to create a Public Service Announcement for the Crayon Collection program. The PSA where actors Owen Wilson, Jessica Capshaw and Christina Ricci lent their voices was shown at the end credits of the animated children's film, "Hero of Color City."

At "Comedy for a Cause," audience members will be treated to a hilarious night of laughter, thanks to host Kira Soltanovich from "Last Comic Standing" and comedians Ben Gleib from "Chelsea Lately," Jodi Miller from "America's Got Talent," and Johnny Sanchez from "MadTV." In addition, a surprise guest – one of Los Angeles' top talents – will also make an appearance.
