EASTON, Pa., July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Teachers do so much every day and all year round and Crayola believes teacher appreciation should extend beyond just a single day. As a result, Crayola will continue its "Thank A Teacher" campaign mission of generating one million thank-yous for teachers with the launch of its "Thank A Teacher" contest. Families are encouraged to create handmade thank-you notes for teachers and upload them at Crayola.com/ThankATeacher for a chance to win over $20,000 in prizes for their family, teacher and school.
Thank-you note submissions will be evaluated on criteria including creativity, originality, inspiration and intelligibility. Crayola will select 10 finalists to each win a prize pack including:
- $10,000 classroom makeover for the teacher
- One-year supply of Crayola products for the school
- $1,000 scholarship for the student
- $1,000 gift card for both the teacher and school
- Free CreatEd seminar for the school
One of the 10 finalists will win a grand prize of their thank-you note featured on a box of Crayola crayons just in time for the holiday season. Families and students are encouraged to visit Crayola.com/ThankATeacher to upload their hand-drawn thank-you notes beginning July 1 through August 25, 2018. Winners will be notified in September. Teachers can also visit the website to search and view thank-you notes in the thank-you note gallery.
"A colorful, handwritten thank-you note is one of the most creative ways you can show your appreciation to a teacher who has touched your life," said Smith Holland, President and CEO of Crayola. "As we kick off the next phase of our 'Thank A Teacher' campaign, we're excited to continue to celebrate and thank teachers across the country for all the work they do each day. We know that America is excited for the opportunity and we can't wait to see all the heartfelt and inspiring thank-you notes we receive for teachers."
The contest is currently being promoted on specially marked packages of key Crayola back to school list items and select retailer merchandising. The specially marked Crayola items are:
- 24 count crayons
- 10 count broad line markers
- 10 count fine line markers
- 12 count colored pencils
- 8 count water color paint
A weekly sweepstakes will run concurrently with the contest, offering entrants a chance to win $500 gift cards for themselves and their teachers. To learn more about Crayola's "Thank A Teacher" contest and enter for a chance to win, visit Crayola.com/ThankATeacher.
The Crayola "Thank A Teacher" program coincides with the brand's 115th anniversary and history of honoring teachers. In 1903, Crayola co-founders Binney & Smith created the first box of crayons and Alice Binney, schoolteacher and wife of co-founder Edwin Binney, named the new crayons "Crayola." Crayola also has long-standing relationships with educators including a new program, CreatED, supporting teachers using art in the classroom to improve student success.
