CHANDLER, Ariz., Oct. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The High Tech Oasis is getting a huge splash of Crayola color.
The iconic family brand announced at a press conference today that it will open a Crayola Experience at Chandler Fashion Center next summer. This is the fifth location for the popular family attraction, which also has facilities in Orlando, Florida; Bloomington, Minnesota; Plano, Texas; and Easton, Pennsylvania – the home of Crayola crayons since 1903.
The 20,000 square-foot attraction will be situated near Kona Grill on the west side of the mall. It also will include a 4,000 square-foot retail space, The Crayola Store, which features the world's largest selection of Crayola products and unique souvenirs, such as plush toys and apparel. The store will be accessible to the public.
Although best known for its crayons and markers, the 115-year-old company now has more than 1,500 proprietary products and technologies, which serve as the inspiration for Crayola Experience's 19 hands-on activities.
"Crayola Experience is more than just an attraction – it's a dynamic and colorful place where families can come together to create, play and make memories that will last a lifetime," said Victoria Lozano, Crayola SVP & GM, Crayola Attractions & Retail. "Our new Crayola Experience in Chandler perfectly aligns with its family-friendly community and we look forward to welcoming the community next summer."
At Crayola Experience Chandler, guests will enjoy classic experiences such as naming and wrapping their own Crayola crayon (Wrap It Up!), starring in their own coloring page (Be a Star), using their touch to bring art to 4-D life (Color Magic), creating melted wax spin-art (Drip Art) as well as some new experiences that will debut in Arizona.
"Our well-positioned, high-performing properties are excellent platforms for experiential brands, such as Crayola, to deepen their relationships with customers," said Ken Volk, senior vice president of business development at Macerich, which owns and operates Chandler Fashion Center. "Across our portfolio, we are adding dynamic new attractions and experiences – from art installations and entertainment venues to destination restaurants, virtual reality, upscale fitness and more – giving people and brands even more reasons to come to our market-leading centers."
"This unique attraction at Chandler Fashion Center reinforces Chandler's reputation as a community that embraces creativity and innovation," said Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny. "We're proud to welcome Crayola Experience and look forward to it becoming a place where families throughout the region come to create, learn and play."
Crayola Experience will be open 365 days a year and will hire more than 100 full-time and part-time employees. It also will host private events, group trips and birthday parties. Families can buy Annual Passes, allowing them to experience the magic of color all year long.
