Crawford's Glenn Gibson Participates in International Fire Investigation Seminar
ATLANTA, March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Glenn T. Gibson, chief strategy officer for Crawford & Company and a certified fire and explosives expert, will discuss North American arson investigation and prevention techniques today during an international fire investigation seminar being held by the Korean Fire Protection Association at the InterContinental Grand Hotel in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
Gibson will join a global panel of experts presenting information about arson investigation trends, training and education programs, computer models and the role of government and private industry in investigations. He will talk about arson cases, preventive actions and insurer investigation procedures for claims in which arson is suspected.
The Korean Fire Protection Association is a non-profit organization that performs comprehensive risk management for the property and casualty insurance industry to help reduce fire-related losses. The seminar is designed to bring together global experts on arson investigation and prevention to help the Korean insurance industry move forward in its efforts to fight the crime.
As chief strategy officer and a member of Crawford's global executive management team, Gibson assists business unit managers with formalizing, implementing and measuring short- and long-term strategic plans and projects as the corporation continues to expand globally.
Gibson began his 37-year insurance career at Fireman's Fund Insurance Company and later helped build Adjusters Canada into the largest claims administration firm in Canada. He has held a number of executive positions with Crawford (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB), the world's largest independent provider of claims management solutions, since the company purchased Adjusters Canada in 1998. He served as senior vice president of operations and chief executive officer of Crawford Canada and chief executive officer of the Americas before assuming his current role in January 2008.
Throughout his career, Gibson has shown a deep commitment to continuing education and to sharing his knowledge with others. He has written more than 180 articles and has delivered some 350 presentations to international audiences in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and other parts of Europe, Australia and Chile. He holds a number of industry designations: Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Chartered Loss Adjuster (CLA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and certifications in Canada and the United States as a Certified Fire and Explosives Investigator (CFEI, CFII-c).
Gibson has volunteered extensively with the Insurance Institute of Canada, International Association of Arson Investigators and the Canadian Independent Adjusters Association. His work has included a five-year term on the board of directors for the Insurance Institute of Canada, which culminated in his serving as chairman of the board from 2004 to 2005. In addition, he has served for the past 15 years as an adjunct professor at the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training School, where his efforts have been recognized with an award from the U.S. government.
