GLENDALE, Calif., June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BUTTERFINGER® the 13th, the first-ever film created and produced by one of America's iconic candy brands, today announced its media partnership with Crackle, Sony Pictures Television's multi-platform video entertainment network, and FEARnet, the world's premiere destination for horror, thriller and suspense. Directed by Rob Lowe, actor, producer, and New York Times best-selling author, "Butterfinger the 13th" is set to make movie-making history this summer and will bring to life Butterfinger's "Nobody's Gonna Lay A Finger" tagline. Butterfinger today also confirmed that director Lowe would promote the comedy-horror at Comic-Con International in July, the immensely popular pop culture/comic convention annually held in San Diego.

"Butterfinger is thrilled to find just the right partnership for 'Butterfinger the 13th' through the exciting and innovative Crackle and FEARnet entertainment channels," said Butterfinger spokesperson Tricia Bowles, Nestle USA Confections & Snacks. "Together with Rob Lowe, Butterfinger is creating a one-of-a-kind film, which now will reach more fans worldwide."
Today, Butterfinger gave fans the first look at the director of the film, releasing "The Lowe Down" director's diary at Facebook.com/Butterfinger. The video is the first of a series of exclusive online confessionals by Lowe and available only for Butterfinger Facebook fans. Each week, Butterfinger's Facebook page will feature information about the comedy-horror currently in production, with new online content and video vignettes released twice weekly, including special content on the 13th of each month.
As the exclusive digital media partner for "Butterfinger the 13th," Crackle and FEARnet will distribute "Butterfinger the 13th" to a wider audience after the movie's official online release on Facebook on October 13. Crackle is one of the fastest-growing entertainment destinations on the internet today, offering audiences quality programming in a variety of genres and across multiple platforms. FEARnet, from Sony Pictures Television, Lionsgate and Comcast, is a cutting-edge multiplatform network offering an unrivaled modern horror library.
"Butterfinger the 13th" aims to take its audience on a perilous journey with the film's hero, whose paranoia leads him to believe that someone wants to lay a finger…in more ways than one. The Butterfinger film's teaser trailer warns fans that "You Can't Scream With Your Mouth Full." More information about "Butterfinger the 13th" is available at Facebook.com/Butterfinger.
