SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, November 7, C.R. England Chairman Dan England signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve, supporting Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office.
England signed the pledge in a ceremony held at the C.R. England corporate offices in Salt Lake City, UT. He was joined by Mr. Tom Bullock, ESGR Chief of Employer Outreach.
By signing the Statement of Support, C.R. England pledges to:
- Fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
- Provide managers and supervisors the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
- Appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
- Continually recognize and support our country's service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.
"Today supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation's Guard and Reserve units. The ESGR Statement of Support program is the cornerstone of ESGR's efforts to gain and maintain employer support. The intent of this program is to increase employer support by encouraging participating employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military," said Bullock. "C.R. England is setting a high standard for all Utah employers to follow by providing above and beyond support of Utah's veterans, many of whom currently serve in the National Guard and Reserve."
"Veterans bring special skills to the workforce and make them ideal candidates for positions in our company," said Dan England, chairman of C.R. England. "Former members of the armed services are disciplined, team oriented and focused problem-solvers who have an unparalleled worth ethic. We are honored to recognize the many former members of the military who are part of the C.R. England team, both those who drive for us as company drivers and independent contractors, as well as those in driver-support roles across the nation. Not only is it our duty to ensure that those coming out of the military have great jobs, but it is our privilege to hire these men and women. We extend our personal thanks to those who have served and who are now offering their skills to us in the private sector."
