CQ Roll Call Announces a New Roll Call with Expanded Coverage, Circulation and Web Presence
Newly Designed Print Newspaper and Web Site to Launch November 13, 2012
WASHINGTON, Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CQ Roll Call, an Economist Group business, announced today the upcoming launch of a redesigned Roll Call featuring expanded coverage, circulation, and frequency, along with a new web site. The publication will deliver a smart, robust package of news and analysis on the politics, policies, and people of Congress, incorporating legislative news and schedules from CQ Today. The new Roll Call will launch on November 13, 2012 and publish Monday through Friday. CQ Today will no longer be published separately. Additionally, RollCall.com will now allow readers open access to all of its content.
"Combining our market leading dailies gives readers the most powerful snapshot of news, information and analysis on Congress," said Keith White, Managing Director, CQ Roll Call. "In an environment of ever increasing sources of news and information, our readers seek out our intelligent, trusted take on the days happenings, whether in leadership, policy making, or in the community of Capitol Hill."
The new Roll Call will present readers with the political news they have come to rely on from the current Roll Call as well as the topical policy analysis and legislative schedules that are hallmarks of CQ Today. The best of the two most influential and widely read beltway publications will be combined into one dynamic, must-read daily paper.
"This merger will provide a win-win for subscribers and advertising customers," said Beth Bronder, Senior Vice President and Publisher, CQ Roll Call. "The new Roll Call will create opportunities for advertisers to deliver their message to a base of highly engaged subscribers and associate with the most trusted source on the Hill. The merger will also serve as a daily 'one-stop' collection of the highest quality news, information and analysis of Congressional activity and critical policy topics for our readers."
In addition to the combination of the print publications, RollCall.com will now be an open, free site ensuring the digital user experience is one that is innovative and forward thinking. It will be redesigned and expanded to incorporate policy coverage while maintaining its intense focus on the people and politics of Capitol Hill.
CQ.com will remain our premium offering and serve as the primary destination for comprehensive and in-depth policy information, including tools to track specific bills, committees, votes and floor actions in real time, custom alerts, member profiles and relevant documents. CQ.com will continue to be oriented toward those who need the richest, constantly updated sources of Congressional policy news and data available.
"Over the last five years, there have been dramatic changes in how we consume news," said White. "While print remains important, the growth in digital, mobile and social is much more rapid, in Congress as well as everywhere else. With this redesign, we expect RollCall.com to continue as the leading website for Congress while rapidly expanding readership among the influential off Capitol Hill."
