CPhI Worldwide, ICSE, P-MEC and InnoPack Announce 2012 Events Location
UBM Live's flagship pharmaceutical events will return to Madrid with expectations for a record breaking year
AMSTERDAM, May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading events organiser UBM Live, a division of UBM Plc (LSE: UBM), announced today that its flagship pharma event CPhI Worldwide and collocated events will be hosted in Madrid, Spain in 2012. CPhI Worldwide will take place alongside ICSE for contract and outsourced services and logistics, P-MEC for pharmaceutical technology and machinery and the newest event to join the line-up, InnoPack for pharmaceutical packaging needs. The events will run from 9-11 October 2012 at the Feria de Madrid, Spain and the announcement follows previous successful staging of the events in Madrid in 2005 and 2009.
"CPhI Worldwide experienced record-breaking attendance in Madrid in 2009 with over 25,000 attendees, despite the fact that the market was in financial downturn. The combined brands have gained the reputation as the world's most comprehensive pharmaceutical industry events," Annemieke Timmers, Global Brand Director CPhI noted. "Since the last staging of the events in Madrid, CPhI Worldwide and collocated brands have grown beyond 27,000 attendees and we wanted to ensure that our venue choice for 2012 would facilitate continued growth."
Following the 2009 events in Madrid, visitor and exhibitor surveys provided universally positive feedback indicating that the city was among the popular destinations for the events, offering access to the Southern European markets. In 2012, this positive feedback will serve as a backdrop to what is expected to be the largest edition of the events, where attendees can successfully launch new products, build their brands and make new connections while also getting a chance to see what the competition is doing and what new trends are happening in the industry all in one place.
Full details of the 2012 events, including the twenty fourth edition of CPhI Worldwide, will be announced later this year. However, some highlights will include the popular networking sessions in a new, midday lunch briefings format, in addition to the CPhI Innovation Awards and the Speakers' Corner which will provide an extra meeting place between exhibitors and visitors. For the fourth year, the events will feature a pre-show conference programme, in a multi-track format, offering 30-minute seminar modules on topical pharma themes. In 2010 the conference series saw a 45% increase in attendance over 2009 numbers.
Haf Cennydd, Global Brand Director ICSE, P-MEC and InnoPack added, "Madrid has proven to be one of the most well-received venues in the history of the events. 81% of 2009 Madrid attendees valued their experience as 8 out of 10 or higher and this, coupled with the pharmaceutical industry's steady return to 'business as usual', encouraged our selection of Madrid as the 2012 destination. The location not only provides attendees with exceptional access to the global pharmaceutical market, but also gives allows attendees the opportunity to do business in an environment rich in cultural history, while enjoying the city's warm climate."
