Cox Solution Stores to be Closed Sat., Aug 27 and Sun., Aug. 28 Due to Hurricane Irene
CHESAPEAKE, Va., Aug. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications maintains a Business Continuity Plan intended to prepare the company for emergency situations such as hurricanes. Our priority, after first ensuring the safety of our employees, is to continue to serve our business and residential customers during and after emergency events.
To ensure the safety of our employees and our valued customers, Cox has made the decision to close its Solutions Stores in the Hampton Roads market area. (Please see the list of Solutions Stores in Hampton Roads below.) We will reopen the stores on Monday, August 29 after the storm has passed.
We are continuing to closely monitor the weather situation so that we may respond appropriately when the time comes.
Also, we are fully staffed with Cox field technicians and maintenance crews. We have built flexibility into our plans and will adjust them based on the strength and severity of the storm. We also have additional operational crews on stand-by, ready to execute our recovery plan following the storm.
Finally, it is important to note that Cox's ability to restore service to customers is closely tied to Dominion Power's service restoration. We also partner with numerous emergency management agencies in region for our recovery efforts. As a result of this storm, there likely will be outages and we want to alert customers now to Cox's recovery response plan and process. We ask for patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the safest and most effective operations before and after the storm event.
