Cox Provides $25,000 Technology Grant to Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Virginia
A ribbon cutting will be held Wed., Jan. 18 at 2:30 p.m.
CHESAPEAKE, Va., Jan. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications is pleased to announce that it will provide a $25,000 technology grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia. A ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration of this news will be held on Wednesday, January 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club's Rosemont unit, located at 1505 Competitor Court, in Virginia Beach.
The grant underwrites the purchase of equipment and services for the Club's computer lab including:
- 10 wireless ready desktop computers (each will have wireless and PCI cards)
- 10 flat screen monitors
- Laser printer
- Wireless router
- Varied services including, equipment training for the staff; image software installation; and back-up support systems
Dave Zobel, President and CEO, said, "This computer equipment donation is so important to us. The kids who come to the club regularly use computers in order to complete their school work. This grant will go far in helping them. It will also help to enhance their educational development."

Following the ribbon cutting, Boys and Girls Club staff and youth will provide a tour of the facility, and will offer demonstrations of the equipment and how it's helpful to students attending the Club afterschool.
To help further bridge the digital divide, Cox provides free high-speed Internet and cable services to all area Boys and Girls Club units. The company also makes many other such in-kind contributions to organizations supporting youth education initiatives in the region.
