Cox Offers Customers Expanded Coverage of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games

WEST WARWICK, R.I., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications, in agreement with NBC Universal, has announced a multiplatform content offering for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. Cox will offer content from the Vancouver Games across multiple digital platforms, including high-definition networks, On DEMAND offerings and online content. In addition, it will be the first Winter Olympics available entirely in high definition.

The Vancouver Games run from the Opening Ceremony on February 12 to the Closing Ceremony on February 28. Coverage will be available to Cox cable customers with at least the Expanded Basic tier of service. There will be more than 835 hours of programming – the most ever for a Winter Olympics – and for the first time, all of it will be available in high definition.
In addition to the television content available on the networks of NBC Universal and via Cox's On DEMAND library, NBC has expanded its coverage of the Games by providing online access to more than 1,000 hours of premium video including live streaming, full event rewinds and more. The online content is available to customers who subscribe to Cox's Expanded Basic Tier of video service.
Content is available from the following sources:
- HD Coverage: Customers have access to the most Winter Olympic coverage ever via NBC Universal's family of networks, including NBC, USA Network, MSNBC, Universal HD, and CNBC. Best of all, all coverage will be available in HD.
- High Speed Internet: Customers are able to register at nbcolympics.com for access to more than 1,000 hours of combined live events and full event replays. This includes event recaps, highlights, in-depth reports, and other features. The site utilizes Microsoft's Silverlight™ player, which streams the content in HD.
- On DEMAND: During the Vancouver Games, more than 100 highlight clips will be available via Cox On DEMAND to Digital Cable subscribers. There will also be up to five full-length replays every day, including HD content. Twenty 'pre-game' clips will be available as well.
