Cox Increases Internet Speeds And Provides Free Cloud Storage
As Number of Web-Enabled Devices Grow, Cox Continues to Improve the Online Experience
CHESAPEAKE, Va., Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications Virginia continues to add value for its high speed internet customers, as download and upload speeds on Cox's most popular tiers of internet service have been increased. The new speeds automatically went into effect on October 9, 2013.
Along with the new higher speeds, Cox is also adding value by providing free cloud storage – allowing customers to backup, share and access important files such as photos, videos, music and documents. Cox also provides the Cox Security Suite – an anti-virus, anti-phishing, anti-spyware solution with parental controls and more for keeping families safe online – free of charge to internet customers.
Cloud storage is becoming more popular with Cox customers – and with customers in general. With Cox's free storage, users can backup files from PCs or Macs, and these backups can be conducted automatically on a schedule. Syncing can be done across multiple devices, and video or music files can actually be played back on mobile devices without the need to download.
"Our customers tell us that that their overall online experience is becoming increasingly important to them," said Betty Jo Roberts, Vice President of Marketing for Cox Virginia. "Speed, access, safety and storage are key components of their communications and entertainment needs. Free cloud storage presents an especially significant value, as most similar services are fee-based."
Cox offers a wide array of broadband service packages designed to suit anyone's needs, from the casual email user to power gamers and households with multiple family members using the Internet simultaneously. Additionally, all Cox customers receive 24/7 live, online sports coverage from ESPN. Plus, when Cox's high speed internet is bundled with Advanced TV, customers can experience up to 100 channels of online content with the new Contour app. Cox's investment in its network and new technologies like DOCSIS 3.0 allows Cox to deliver the best value in Virginia.
