Cox Communications Names Mark Greatrex as Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
ATLANTA, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications announced today that Mark Greatrex has been named senior vice president, chief marketing officer. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing all marketing activities including customer value management, branding and advertising, research, pricing and bundling, product and competitive marketing, business-to-business marketing, acquisition and retention marketing, and marketing communications. Greatrex is also charged with ensuring strategy alignment with the Strategy, Product and Technology leaders.

Greatrex has more than 25 years of marketing experience for consumer brands. Prior to joining Cox, he served as senior vice president of Global Still Beverages at The Coca-Cola Company where he was responsible for a $7 billion portfolio of beverages. During his five year tenure at Coke, Greatrex held a variety of senior-level marketing positions. His accomplishments included growing the still business category by 26% through the successful execution of marketing programs such as Powerade's FIFA World Cup and the international launch of glaceau vitamin water. Additionally, Mark pioneered Interactive Marketing at the company, which included building a global digital platform, developing a mobile marketing strategy and expanding customer relationship management and loyalty areas. His work drove major gains in marketing productivity and built critical new marketing capabilities.
Prior to the Coca-Cola Company, Greatrex was executive vice president of Brand Marketing at America Online (AOL) where he was responsible for marketing AOL's broadband and dial-up Internet access services across a portfolio of brands, comprised of more than 30 million subscribers. He was also responsible for developing, launching and marketing a variety of premium Internet subscription services including AOL's Safety & Security Center, AOL Voice Services, digital music and AOL Latino. In addition, Greatrex provided leadership for various pricing strategies.
Before joining AOL, Greatrex was a part owner and company officer who led marketing and sales operations for Eagle Family Foods, Inc. He began his marketing career at Unilever PLC in 1984 and held general management and marketing roles of increasing responsibility during his 16-year career with the company culminating with his promotion to vice president and general manager of Lipton Tea's US operations.

Greatrex holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Master's of Business Administration from New York University's Leonard Stern Business School.
