CHESAPEAKE, Va., Nov. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cox Communications Virginia 2016-2017 Cox Charities grant cycle is now open. Applications will be accepted until December 2, 2016, with awards announced in February 2017. Applications and information are available at www.coxcharities.org.
Cox Charities, the philanthropic arm of Cox Communications, supports non-profit organizations focused on providing quality educational programs to youth throughout Virginia. Now in its seventh year, the program supports Cox communities in the Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia and Roanoke service areas.
"Since 2009, Cox Charities has awarded $815,000 in grants to deserving nonprofit organizations in Virginia," said JD Myers, II, senior vice president and region manager for Cox Communications Virginia. "Our goal is to support local organizations focused on youth education. By doing so, we strengthen our communities and invest in our future generations to ensure they reach their highest potential."
To be considered for funding, nonprofit groups must support youth in Cox's Hampton Roads, Roanoke, Fairfax County, or Fredericksburg service areas. Education programs that further the academic achievement and development of young people through science and technology, mentoring, literacy and other areas promoting youth education are eligible.
