Cox Charities 2010 Grant Cycle Runs From September 7 through October 15
CHESAPEAKE, Va., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning September 7, interested organizations may submit grant applications for Cox Virginia's own charitable giving initiative Cox Charities. Grant submittals are accepted in electronic format only until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010.
Cox Charities provides funding, through a competitive grant process, to organizations which further the academic achievement and development of young people in our local communities.
"Through our 2009 Cox Charities grant process, we were able to fund programs giving more than $85,000 in grants to nine great non-profits. The programs provided by these organizations range from youth mentoring services, to academic services for low-income and at-risk youth, to early childhood education initiatives," said Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cox Virginia.
To receive funding, eligible groups must serve communities within the Cox Hampton Roads or Roanoke service areas. Grants are intended for youth education programs, involving science and technology, mentoring, literacy and/or other opportunities designed to advance the education of youth.
