Cox Brings Netflix To Cox Contour, Providing Seamless Video Experience
Accessing Netflix movies and shows is now as easy as watching TV for Cox Contour customers
ATLANTA, Nov. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Cox Communications and Netflix announced the integration of Netflix on Cox Contour nationwide. Accessing Netflix movies and shows is now as easy as speaking into the remote for Cox Contour video customers. Cox customers with a Netflix subscription can access Netflix content, along with Cox's live TV, DVR and On Demand content all within the Contour TV guide.
"Cox has supported Netflix subscribers for years with our high-speed internet service and now we're improving the experience by adding the Netflix service to the Contour TV guide," said Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications. "Customers want to easily access the content they care about – across sources – anytime, anywhere; we'll continue to look for more ways to improve the video experience."
Full integration throughout the Contour platform means finding and watching current and past episodes of favorite shows and movies is easier than ever. Using the Contour remote, Netflix content can be accessed by:
- Searching for specific TV shows or movies via the Contour voice remote - automatically includes both the Cox and Netflix libraries
- Going to the Contour Apps category and choosing the Netflix icon or simply saying "NETFLIX" into the voice remote – opens the Netflix app on the TV screen
- Discovering select Netflix titles within the Cox On Demand menus
While Netflix is now fully integrated with Contour, Cox customers will need a subscription to Netflix to enjoy content from both sources.
"Cox Contour customers can now watch TV series, movies, comedy specials and documentaries from Netflix as easily as they watch live TV," said Paul Perryman, vice president of business development, Netflix. "Through Contour's voice remote, they can access all of their favorite Netflix or live TV shows all in one place, without juggling remotes or cords."
Contour is Cox's premier video product and the latest version leverages the X1 platform from Comcast and now includes Netflix's content library. One of the most popular Contour features is the voice remote, which allows customers to change channels, find shows, get recommendations and launch apps by simply using voice commands. The TV apps offer personalized news, weather and traffic, including a sports app which shows stats and scores on the TV screen without interrupting the game. The cloud-based Contour interface is available in-home and on a mobile app which allows viewing on mobile devices both in and outside the home.
Contour users can view purchased movies and shows on TV, stream on computer at watchtv.cox.com or download content to the Contour mobile app to watch anywhere, anytime -- even without an Internet connection.
