Cox Begins Contest and Program to Recognize Everyday People Who Provide Neighborly Electronics Help

CHESAPEAKE, Va., Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications is proud to be hosting its first "Golden Digeez" Awards program.
In this program, everyday individuals are recognized when they provide technology support to their friends and neighbors. The contest is hosted on Cox Hampton Road's Facebook page located at http://www.facebook.com/coxhamptonroads, where votes are cast.
The winner, as determined by popular vote through the Facebook page, will received three months of service for free.
"It's the first time Cox has done something like this where we are recognizing the fulfillment of our brand promise among consumers…that promise is for us to be a friend in the digital age. We know that technology is becoming even more challenging for some consumers, and this program is intended to recognize and reward those who are helping their friends and neighbors out," says Gary McCollum, Cox Virginia Senior Vice President and General Manager.
McCollum adds, "This individual personifies the actions of the Cox mascot Digeez by assisting their family and friends with their video, internet, telephone and wireless phone services."
The winners will be named the "People's Choice" recipient and will receive a Golden Digeez statuette along with three months of the Cox Preferred Bundle for FREE. These items will be awarded to the entry that receives the most viewer votes. The individual who provides the nomination will also win, as they will receive one month of the Cox Preferred Bundle for FREE.
Also, there will be a "Cox Choice Award" provided. This award will be provided to an entry chosen by Cox Communications.
To nominate a deserving individual you can visit your the Cox Hampton Roads Facebook page and click on the left tab entitled "Golden Digeez." In addition to a description of the good deed, you can also add a photo or a video. Nominations will be accepted until September 9, 2011.
